Who are The Cornish Fish Co.?

The Cornish Fish Co. is a family-run business, based in the heart of Looe Harbour. Run by husband and wife duo Sam and Laura Chapman, the passion for fishing runs in the family. Two of Sam’s uncles are fishermen, with one of them still fishing to this day – some of his caught fish might even make its way into your order! Sam started working on the fish quay as a harbour assistant at the age of 18, helping the boats secure their catches. Loving the busy fish quay, Sam decided to start working for a local fish merchant, learning the trade first-hand. From this point, his passion for selling the finest fish grew, caught by local fishermen. 

In 2016, Sam and Laura had the opportunity to take on Nippers Shellfish, which then became The Cornish Fish Co. With an incredible reputation for producing the finest fish and fresh crab meat, The Cornish Fish Co. is expanding quickly. 

What is our process from fishing to delivery?

All of our fish goes through the same process to ensure you only receive the finest quality seafood. Day Boats return to the harbour after a long day at sea, typically landing their catch between 6 pm and 11 pm. The time they return will depend on the tides. We start our day at 5 am, arriving to grade the catch and select the finest fish for our customers. Once we’ve selected the best fish for delivery, our expert filleters begin preparing the fish. To ensure the fish stays as fresh as the day it was caught, it is then vacuum packed. 

The fish is then ready to pack! We aim to fulfil all orders within 24 hours, selecting only the highest quality, fresh seafood for each box. The orders are collected by DPD just 12-16 hours after the fish is caught, arriving at your door the next day! Typically, the seafood you purchase will have been caught less than 36 hours before delivery. If you’re looking for the best fish delivery service, it doesn’t get any better than that! 

What fresh fish do we offer?

Here at The Cornish Fish Co., we offer a range of seafood available to order online. You can check out our whole catalogue in our online shop. From smoked fish to shellfish, we’ve got you covered. 

Order individual fillets of fish, or opt for our ‘Catch of The Day Box’. Select the box you’d like to order, defined by price:

• £35 – 5 x 300g packs of filleted fish.
• £45 – 6 x 300g packs of filleted fish. This includes a Prime Species.
• £55 – 7 x 300g packs of filleted fish. This includes 2 Prime Species.
• £150 – The Ultimate Fish Lover’s Box. 

Some of the fish you could expect in your Catch of The Day Box include Plaice, Lemon Sole, Gurnard, Red Mullet, Hake, Pollock, Haddock, John Dory, Skate, Monk, Brill, Turbot, Dover sole, Whiting and more! 

Don’t forget, we also sell fresh shellfish – including prawns, king prawns, crab, mussels, lobster, scallops and squid. 

As well as our Catch of The Day Box, you can also try one of our other boxes. These boxes include the ‘BBQ Fish Box’ (perfect for the Summer), the ‘Deluxe Shellfish Hamper’ and, of course, our monthly subscription box, ‘A Taste of Looe’.
